There can be some advantages to buying a used certified car from a new car dealer. Most vehicle manufactures have certification programs but there are some differences from one manufacturer to another. This article will examine the Lexus preowned vehicle certified program for what the qualifications are for certification as well as the benefits.

Lexus Used Certified Pre-owned Vehicle Qualifications

Each car manufacturer has a basic set of rules for the minimum qualifications of pre-owned certification status. The basic rules for all manufacturers include age limits, and mileage limits. Each vehicle must also pass a comprehensive vehicle inspection. The following are Lexus’s qualification requirements.

  • Lexus vehicles must be less than 6 years old
  • Vehicle must have less than 70,000 miles
  • Must pass a 161-point mechanical and appearance inspection by trained Lexus technicians

Lexus Preowned Certified Warranty Coverage

The warranty coverage on the majority of certified used cars starts when the new vehicle was first put into service. Unlike the majority of other certified used car programs, Lexus covers the car for 3 years after the used vehicle is purchased or a total of 100,000 miles. In other words the warranty applies for up to 3 years from the used purchase date or a total of 100,000 miles whichever comes first.

Lexus certified preowned warranty has no deductable for covered repairs. A loaner car is also supplied to the Lexus owner at no charge if the car’s in the shop for more than 8 hours. Lexus will also pay for meals and lodging up to three days (up to $200 per night) if the vehicle breaks down away from home. Free roadside assistance is also provided.
